Open vacancies (Ph.D. positions) at LSTM

Ph.D. positions at LSTM

The Laboratory of Statistical Thermodynamics and Macromolecules (LSTM), Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Patras, and the Thermodynamics and Transport Phenomena Laboratory (T²PL), Department of Chemical Engineering at the Cyprus University of Technology, are looking for three (3) highly enthusiastic and strongly motivated Ph.D. candidates to join our computational/theoretical groups.

The positions are financially secured for four (4) years from competitive international and industrial research projects. The research to be undertaken includes computational (Molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo, Brownian dynamics, Dissipative particle dynamics) and theoretical (nonequilibrium thermodynamics, field theories) work in the following areas:

1) Linear and ring polymer dynamics and rheology

2) Flow-induced crystallization of polymers

3) Polymer nanocomposites (dynamics and rheology)

4) Antimicrobial peptides and antiviral properties of nanoparticles and nanocoatings

Applications are accepted from graduates of all engineering and science departments in Greece and abroad. Previous experience in the above-mentioned research topics will be considered a strong advantage.

The selected fellows are expected to be admitted to the Ph.D. program of studies of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Patras and receive their Ph.D. degree upon successful completion of the corresponding requirements.

Applicants should send their application (along with any queries) to tsalikis@chemeng.upatras.gr and pavlos.stefanou@cut.ac.cy (with a copy to vlasis@chemeng.upatras.gr). They should also include: 1) a statement of personal objectives and 2) a short cv.

Review of applications will begin immediately. The successful candidates should be available to start in early (January/February) 2023.
