The University of Edinburgh is one of the world’s top 25 institutions of Higher Education and provides exceptional research, teaching, and living environments. The School of Engineering reflects all of the University’s principal characteristics, with a cosmopolitan academic staff numbering over 125, and with a body of 1,700 undergraduate and 640 postgraduate students from all over the world. We carry out internationally excellent teaching and research, attracting high-calibre students and a high level of research funding. We are now investing to strengthen and deepen our coverage of Mechanical Engineering by appointment to:
Two positions of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (Multiscale Thermofluids).
The successful candidates will be internationally prominent in Mechanical Engineering, or will demonstrate strong potential to be so. The Institute for Multiscale Thermofluids (IMT) has been building up its research portfolio in theoretical and computational multiscale fluid dynamics. The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to this research, in particular, mathematical and/or physics modelling and software for multiscale fluid problems. They will lead related research within the School, winning substantial external research funding.
The level of appointment for the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer posts will be determined by the selection panel.
The culture of the School of Engineering and the University is open and diverse, and we are committed to reflecting that in our appointment process.
